Why Peace Frogs is Organic

Part of the Peace Frogs mind-set is to protect our World through environmentally sensitive manufacturing processes. In this effort, Peace Frogs offers organic cotton t-shirts.

Next to corn, cotton is the largest agricultural produce in the United States. It uses approximately 35% of the world's pesticides. Additionally, about 2 billion pounds of synthetic fertilizers are applied to conventional cotton each year, making cotton the fourth most heavily fertilized crop behind corn, winter wheat, and soybeans (USDA). Since cotton is not normally considered to be a food product, this usage of chemicals is usually overlooked by the general public. However, chemicals that are used in cotton fields can have the same harmful impact on the environment as chemicals used anywhere else. Synthetic pesticides and fertilizers can run off of fields into nearby water supplies, thus harming fish, amphibians, and eventually humans.

Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic farming systems replenish and maintain soil fertility; reduce the use of synthetic chemicals, and build biologically diverse agriculture. The benefit to the customer is a softer, more high-quality garment, because the cotton fibers have not been weakened by the use of chemicals in processing.

Peace Frogs understands the importance of treating the environment well.
